Short night, D&D 4.0 - the Ninja and I's first thoughts - timeliness, and starting CD.

Well, I got the base coat on the greatcoats of the half of the CD infantry that is in greatcoats - meaning I got very little done.

That's because The Ninja and I went down to our FLGS, picked up the D&D 4.0 books, and spent four hours reading and chatting about what we found.

It isn't D&D, that's for sure. A fun little RPG that's more complex than it should be? Yes. D&D? Nope. Not even close. Warlock is a core class and Tieflings a core race? Not D&D.

Though some of the worst abuses of 3E were fixed - you could play the game without skills or feats at least. We'll have to try it out before we can make any declarations about whether it's a fun RPG or not.

I got a shipment email from a retailer today. From a retailer that told me they'd ship on Monday. As in last Monday. This is the first time I've used this particular retailer, and it raises my eyebrows. I suppose I'll wait and see if the one bit they said they couldn't get is in the box. If not, then I won't use them for reviews again. We need our goods on the day they say, not a week later... The whole review schedule could get hosed that way.

Anyway, time to sleep before I have to get to that all day meeting tomorrow.

Until next time,
Don.
