Airfix Poses Game | Print |  E-mail

Mr. Nizz in his blog Another Point of Singularity has proposed a game utilizing all of those old Airfix figures that didn't fit with your wargaming needs.

The blog entry is a little long, but he's right. Most of us had legions of them, some of us (myself included) still do. Even though I'm a "successful old guy" now that buys enough lead to keep Wargames articles coming relatively regularly, I still own more airfix and Revell than any given metal manufacturer. I still have unassembled kits laying around, and even one unopened model (the early 80s Revell 1:35 Panzerspahwagen).

I'd jump on this game. I'd lose, but I'd have a blast losing and maybe learn some more useless trivia in the process. My next con is Lake Geneva Gaming Convention , but I'm guessing they won't be playing this one there (but I'll bet it would go over well).

NapoleoN Miniatures is a new and growing company that specializes in 20mm Napoleonic models. I received two sample figures, one French Voltigeur and one French Artilleryman.

Here are the unpainted models. I mounted them on bottle caps for painting.

Ed takes a look at an eerily familiar demon idol miniature produced by Otherworld Miniatures. Take a look, it's like you've got the AD&D Players' Handbook in your lap.

When Monsters Attack! | Print |  E-mail

Hauptman Gerhardt, thre time recipient of the Wound Badge and veteran of many battles was deploying his troops to defend yet another European village from yet another American attack. This might be the one that earned him the Iron Cross, but he no longer cared. Having had his troops kicked out of more towns than they'd ever spent occupation duty in, all he cared about these days was surviving.

Division had scrounged up three rusty old Panzer 38(t)s for him to use, and his company was at least filled up with reinforcements from the redeployment battalion. They weren't trained to work together, but at least they were all experienced soldiers. They would catch on quickly.

But then, just as he was about to move his company into the village, a monster attacked!

Yipping and jumping and biting, this ferocious beast had to be dragged from the battlefield by the Hauptman's overlarge friends... Before it could eat any of his soldiers.

Herr Hauptman fought well that day, reinvigorated by the fact that it was highly unlikely the Americans would eat him if they captured him...
